For our literacy theme this week is History 2020. We have had the theme for 2 weeks, anyway The activity I did this week was doing a report about the four ship. This activity was really anyoing but I got use to it, I learnt a lot of things while doing this report like I learnt about what they use to eat back in the day and they use to eat the same thing over and over again that was my favourite part learning new things my least favourite was writing the report but overall it was fun to learn new things. The First Four Ships 

 Four ships were the ones who organised the first group of settlers to the Canterbury Association’s new settlement. The settlement was in 1850’s when the four ships left England in September for Canterbury, A public dance party was held for the families who were buying new land for the settlement.

The Charlotte Jane carried 154 passengers, Randolph carried 217 ,Cressy 155 and many others. The four ships also carried other things not just people and animals as well they provided food and milk so im guessing there were cows on the ship.

Cabin passengers paid 42 pounds berth, intermediate passengers 25 pounds berth and the steerage passengers 15 pounds. Emigrants had to bring their own bedding and clothes. Captain and the passengers had to eat their normal diet food like biscuits and salted beef. They didn’t really like the food but they ate it every day. They used flour, salt and water for the ship biscuits. The passengers on the ship found different things on the ship to do like dancing on the deck, writing letters and diaries, sewing, playing cards and making little house models and anyone who played instruments would be very popular.
